Political Pull is a non-partisan political website independently-owned and operated by Tseg Mulugeta. Tseg is the daughter of immigrant parents from Ethiopia and Peru. Her maternal great-grandparents were Quechuan Indians from the Huánuco region of central Peru.
After studying biology at UC Davis, Tseg did an internship at the oldest public hospital in the Americas – Dos de Mayo Public Hospital in Lima, Peru – founded in 1538. The experience, among others, turned Tseg's interest from healthcare to public policy as she saw healthcare access as a major problem with the healthcare systems of both Peru and her native U.S.A.
Tseg first became active in politics with the 2016 presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders. Her hard work on the campaign led to her nomination as a delegate and committee member for the Sanders campaign at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. After the 2016 presidential election, Tseg decided to pursue a career in political work. While she looked for work in the field, Tseg began developing Political Pull as a pet project. She launched the website in January of 2018 after a year of development.
She currently handles all the web programming, content research, content creation, and web marketing for the site in addition to juggling contract jobs. Tseg hopes her website will help others become more engaged in politics. She welcomes those of all political viewpoints to use and contribute to the website.
